At the moment my desk is strewn with papers and printouts of schedules, forms, labels etc. We are jetting off to the U.S on holiday in a few weeks time and im trying to get flights, accommodation, tickets and everything else organised. I do follow the ‘Messy Desk = Messy Mind’ philosophy so when i saw these paperweights i could totally relate!

They are made out of aluminium with a lustrous chrome finish and are supposed to represent punctuation marks. There is a ‘full stop’ a ‘comma’ and a set of ‘quotation marks’. Nendo designed three paperweights like three different forms of punctuation so that users can sort their papers by meaning: the full stop for work completed; the comma for work in progress, and the quotation mark for messages.

Hmmm…perhaps i should stop procrastinating now and tidy my desk!!

I must admit, packing up all our belongings into boxes (we’re moving house, remember)is very satisfying. Everything is sorted and stored in its own little box, sealed and labelled with its contents and neatly stacked. I love having a place to put everything, little boxes, bags and baskets doing their job, holding shoes, odds and ends and essentials. I like that my jewellery tree, compartmentalised biscuit container, clear shoe boxes and drawer dividers let me access and see what i have in one glance.

That’s why i totally fell in love with Kent and London’s Alphabet Drawers!

They are inspired by vintage alphabet blocks and each letter has its own drawer. I love the colour and grain of the timber and the beautiful but simple font. This would be the ideal place to store those weird little objects that seem to appear in random places about the house like spline rollers, rubber bands, pens, change, batteries etc. I’d also be really anal about only storing things in the drawers that correspond with their alphabet- but then i think with a piece like this, my neurosis can be excused!
