The Blog This Challenge for week 9 was to take you on a Pictoral tour of ‘The streets in your town’ so heres a snippet of what i see everyday:

My little guys have a big steep hill to walk up on our trek to the park. Nicholas will often complain that he’s too small or ‘too heavy’ to walk up but is always triumphant when he reaches the top of the hill! The good thing about living velow street level , at the bottom of a dead end road, is that we rarely get cars going by and you can hear every bird, cricket and tree swish in the wind.

Theres endless blue skies and trees streching up to the heavens.

Magnolias unfolding to welcome the sunshine on their creamy petals.

The gum trees are very considerate, parting ways to accomodate the power lines.

Even these funky bugs don their best black and white outfits to explore their barky terrain. They must have known I was coming!

There are bursts of unexpected colour and texture. When the sun hit the wattle it was almost luminescent… amazing!

This is a shot taken in my backyard. There is a single ghostly gum tree standing at attention, overseeing all the new growth and saplings like an old grandfather. When the moonlight reflects off its white bark i liken it to a lighthouse shining a beacon out into the green seas.

This is my backyard too. We have dubbed it ‘Narnia’ because im positive, if i trek down that hill, carpeted in ivy, it’ll take me to another world where fairies, goblins, centaurs and other mythical creatures frolic. There is also an old abandoned art deco wardrobe in my backyard so you never know!!

This weeks Blog This challenge is to “tell us fifteen facinating, far fetched, frightening, funny or frivilous facts about yourself. Those bits of trivia that are floating around in your life. Can you eat 10 burgers in one sitting? Do you sleep with your eyes open? Can you tie a cherry stalk into a knot? Speak 5 different languages?”

So heres my 15:

1. I am very cracky. I crack my knuckles and most of my joints. Shoulders, elbows, toes, fingers, hips, knees, back, neck- anywhere where two bones connect, i can crack it. Im paitently awaiting the day when i collapse in a heap as my joins give out. I know its bad but i cannot stop it!

2. I dont feel ‘dressed’ unless my hair has been straightened. If i do have to leave the house with my natural curly hair, i feel like a hobo and slink about trying to go unnoticed.

3. I cant sing. I hate Grease, Abba, any of those sing-a-long type movies. I’d rather claw my eyes/ears off. I think Karaoke is the ultimate humiliation.

4. I must make lists, do things in a particular order and hate doing things twice. If i have to re-do it i feel like a failure. Sheesh, can you say “ish-shoes”!!

5. Raw carrot is an abomination. Just searching for that picture disgusted me…

6. Im bound to get lost driving somewhere for the first time. My sense of direction can be completely shot at times. My husband marvels at my complete inability to navigate, yet refuses to buy me a GPS. I think he likes to see me suffer- sadist!

7. Im obsessed with gift wrapping. It takes more precedent than the gift. If the gift reciever is a known “ripper” and oblivious to my efforts, they get basic paper with curling ribbon, no handmade paper buckles, special ribbon and flocked paper.

8. I have a Black Christmas Tree. Its awesome. I dont care what anyone says. Its also decorated in Black and white and crystal- i know they arent ‘christmas colours’ but i dont like green.

9. I cant make rice pudding. Its my kryptonite. No matter how many times ive attempted it with ‘foolproof’ recipies, i manage to make it too dry, too bland, too gluggy. I will defeat you one day you gultinous devil, just you wait…

10. I love black and white. Its been my favourite colours since i can remember. My first bedroom furniture suite, bought for me in Yr6 was all black and white. Its still in my parents home and i still love it.

11. My son Nicholas was born with Clubfoot, just like his father. He spent the first 2.5 years of his life in and out of plaster casts and with his feet in a snowboard looking contraption. This didnt slow down his crawling, standing, walking, climbing out of the cot one bit. He’s the ultimate in hyper kids!

12. My second son, Alexander, was supposed to be a girl. We were told at 2 seperate ultrasounds that the baby was a girl. I bought pink, the grandmothers bought pink, there was much excitement as there is an abundance of boys in the family and NO girls. So everyone though we were kidding when we called from the delivery room announcing the birth of our new baby boy. The Grandparents thought they were Punk’d and didnt believe us. The nurse almost had to get on the phone to convince them. So now we are “That couple” the ones that our friends talk about when women say they are finding out the sex of their baby.

13. Im obsessed with LOST. The mystery, the intrigue, the drama. I wrote a 33 page document on the summary of the first two seasons, all the references, links, clues and answers to questions that i would be asked by friends and forumers. My poor husband was not allowed to speak during the episodes and any questions about how people knew eachother or what things meant were met by a frustrated sigh and eye rolling. Then i’d pause the tape and spend 20mins explaining to him. He stopped asking me by the 2nd season. The next season will be the 6th and final and im going to miss it incredibly.

14. I hate chick-flicks and chick-lit. I just feel like they are a complete waste of time! They just seem so patronising and i can feel my IQ dropping.

15. Im very competitive and love Trivial Pursuit. We get together with some good friends and play almost every weekend. We have also just bought Taboo and were up playing till 2:30am last Sat! Obsessed much?!

So there you are, i hope i havent scared you off. I decided to just sit down and write everything off the top off my head, no editing, no plan- just some honest gut spilling. I hope some of you can relate…

I’ve recently joined a conglomerate of bloggers at www.blogthis.com.au and put my hand up for the site design straight away. I had a gut feeling of the visual identity that would best suit the blog ring and luckily Kathryn (brain-child of the site) and Liss (admin extraordinaire), know me well enough to let me run with the ball. This is the best and sometimes hardest part of design, giving an identity a face.

So i was pretty thrilled when they instantly loved the initial mock up!

I must admit, when it came to my own blog, i let The Husband design and implement it for me because i wanted a different interpretation of my style, not just “me re-hashed by me”. So implementing the actual design into the Blog This site was a great learning curve to surf. So after some tweaking its all up and ready to roll!

Take a peek when you have a second, get connected, get inspired and sign up!
