Girly print

by Nisha | November 11 2009 |

How beautiful is this print by Yasmine Surovec, it’s called Fancy Dress and this is what Yasmine has to say about it:

“I have a love for things that are vintage and imperfect. I’d once seen an old dress with tattered laces and with the fabric worn out and stained. That image stuck in my imagination and Fancy Dress came from that. The dress was drawn from start to finish in one sitting.”

I completely understand the need to finish something this beautiful in one sitting. It’d be quite theraputic to draw all those scallops and details. Here’s the second dress she created…

Robot Party Invitation

by Nisha | November 3 2009 |

A very sweet little girl, i know,  is having a robot themed party. Her mum asked me to design an invite that was quite gender neutral and something that she could pop into a frame later on. A cool print to commemorate a sweet girls 4th birthday. Check it out…

To infinity and beyond…

by Nisha | October 30 2009 |

We have a budding rocket scientist in the house! He loves to talk about space and the solar system, aliens, stars and astronauts. For his birthday we bought him an inflatable solar system model, each of the 9 planets now hang from his ceiling and he loves to chat about each planets unique characteristics. So cute!

So when i saw these prints from illustrator Steve Thomas, they brought a smile to my face. I love the beautifully vintage inspired design and the tourism poster concept.

Monogrammed Soap

The Hubby loves bars of soap, but being the evil wife that i am, have banned it because of all the scrubbing that the shower recess requires. Sometimes i surprise him with a bar or two and his whole face lights up! It really is the little things that make a person happy… Imagine his face when he sees hand made goats milk soap with his initial on it!

Beautiful Bed Linen

by Nisha | October 26 2009 |

Gorgeous bed linen is hard to find. I dont do florals or girly prints, my style is more masculine and clean as opposed to frilly and flouncy. In fact all my linens are either shades of brown and natural colours or white. The patterns are largely geometric- circles, stripes and pleats or very very subtle white on white leaf patterns.

So my eyes lit up when i saw the range from the clever kiwis at Thread Design. Have a look at these beauties…

Stella for GAP

by Nisha | October 24 2009 |

The wonderfully talented Stella McCartney has collaborated with clothing giant GAP to bring out a gorgeous kids clothing line!

How adorable is that little military jacket! Why shouldnt kids look stylish without having the usualy spattering of cars, dinosaurs and faries on their clothes?!

Some of the pieces are mini versions of what has appeared on the catwalks for her Womens range and she has applied the same principles to kidswear that she does to her womenswear line- no leather, organic materials like cotton, wool and cashmere and beautiful detailling. The price point for the garments are also in line with GAP clothing and less skewed to the haute coture, so thats an even bigger plus! You can read more about it here

We’re Baaaack!

by Nisha | October 23 2009 |

10 days wasn’t nearly enough of a break! Actually, the time went by really slowly so we enjoyed all the afternoon siestas, the mornings simmering in the spa, Sushi for breakfast and theme parks and rides galore! There are about 1000 photos on the camera so i’ll share some of those once i’ve had a decent culling session! When thereare 4 kids to be photographed you end up taking 5 times the normal amount of photos because someone is always trying to run away or is having a tantrum because they cant stand next to their friend, or they are all covering their faces or looking in 4 different directions!

Once we were home, it felt like we’d been away for a month! I guess thats a sign of a good holiday, returning home utterly relaxed and refreshed. And thats exactly how i felt when i found this beautiful print. The shades of blue are just sublime! Reminds me of the ocean and spa ripples im missing already…
