Use your manners!

by Nisha | June 27 2009 |

Do you do the ‘thank-you’ wave when driving? You know when someone lets you in when youre trying to cut across 3 lanes of traffic? Or when lanes merge into one and you have to squeeze in? Do you do stick your hand up to acknowledge that someone is giving you a break. Twice this week I’ve hit the brakes so that someone can merge quickly and last night i had to reverse down my steep street, which has more curves than Monica Belluci, so that the car coming in the opposite direction could get through -and in both instances, no thank you wave to acknowledge that ive gone out of my way to accomodate them…

Rude.

Be nice and practice your thank-you wave, or you may find me waving at you with a single finger!

Yep, that is rude. I even do it when crossing the road at pedestrian crossings. I think a lot of society needs to go in the naughty corner!

I am so with you on this one. I like to think I am a considerate driver and I always use the thank you wave, even our kids do it now. Last year we moved to a town with a lot of reverse angle parking and I have been amazed at how long it takes to find a nice person to actually stop for a few seconds and let you park. I am still stopping for everyone else and hope I can keep it up despite not having the favour returned very often. Hope someone gives you a friendly wave today and you don’t have to get the finger out.

Yep, I will always try and give a wave when someone lets me in. And I feel a little chuffed when someone gives me a wave as well. Otherwise crankiness can ensue!
