What holds your water?

by Nisha | July 23 2009 |

Took the monkeys to the park yesterday for some mid-morning energy expulsion and after a few games of hide and seek and chasey, we were parched. I took a swig out of their water bottle and recoiled at the awful plasticy taste. No wonder they hate drinking water that isnt spiked with a bit of juice! Ive read about and heard all the talk about BPA’s and chemicals leeching into water from the plastic used in drink bottles and disposeable bottles and thought i’d better make the switch to something a bit more eco-friendly, cost effective and something that doesnt make my water taste like its been down the bottom of a muddy well for 6 weeks!

I searched high and low for bottles that weren’t too expnsive and not too babyish looking either. Nicholas will be in ‘big school’ next year so i want something with staying power. I found a suitable bottle made by Alex and Charli (off babys got style) and bought 2 of them:

But in my travels i found some other funky versions for the bigger kids.  Nice, huh?!

Where are the silver ones with the birds and trees on them from? They are lovely. I would love one of those.
We’ve been using Siggs for about five years now. I switched when I discovered mould in a plastic bottle. Eeeew. The aluminium bottles can really cop a pounding. Our son still has his first one (it’s still usable even though it looks like it’s been through a can crusher). Our daughter still has her original (three years on and going strong, she’s not as rough with hers). Goes to show they last. You can get replacement caps which I do for the kids ones once a year. So really they pay for themselves pretty quickly.

They are super cute! I’m going to have to look in to getting some for my boys, I think.
