I resisted it for a good month, i added an extra wool blanket, put a hot water bottle under the sheets (epic fail unless you can curl up your entire body on that single hot spot), went to bed with socks, went to bed with my arm warmers on, layered up, slept completely under the doonas and blankets cocoon like but just couldn’t get warm enough. The yesterday i gave in…
I stripped the bed and dragged out the electric blanket. I thought i was being all eco-conscious and considerate about the wasted energy but I’m not comfortable unless I’m warm, damnit! I love that electric blanket with a passion. Ive instructed The Husband that if there was ever a fire, he was to scoop up the kids while i stripped the bed and liberated the electric blanket. Im not even kidding.
Last night i switched the electric blanket on at 10 and retreated downstairs to the laptop to do some work. I was up till midnight and finally shut down when my fingers were too cold and rigid to type anymore. I retreated to bed, peeling back the covers and slid in. An enormous grin spread across my face as i was enveloped in warmth, I’d totally forgotten I’d had the blanket on! I giggled childishly and said a silent thank you to Sunbeam for not having to curl up in a tight foetal position within a cocoon of blankets, relying on a single arm shaped tunnel to filter in oxygen.
Only one things beats sliding into a warm bed, and thats sliding into warm PJ’s. I sometimes lay out my PJ’s under the doona while the blanket is on and when its finally bed time, slipping on pre-warmed flannel PJ pants is just heavely. Im grinning just writing this! Bloody fruit loop that i am…

I have been resisting buying an electric blanket because I am paranoid about fire, but last night I was considering it. Really, really considering it. It’s bloody freezing!
Oh, I am long since a convert to the electric blanket. Mr. J and I love them. I just leave it on low overnight as it is very drying. There is nothing I love more than slipping into a super toasty bed in winter. Mmmmm!
