Through the looking glass

Alice in wonderland is such a fantastic story, the immagery thats sprouted from this Carroll classic has been kooky, quirky and colourful to say the least. Everyone who has ever illustrated, animated or filmed Alice and her Wonderland has put their own spin on the ‘look’. I was wasting time researching in IMDB and saw that the ‘Master of Bizarre’ (a.k.a Tim Burton) is making Alice in Wonderland!! I love the magic Burton has weaved in everything from Edward Scissorhands to Beetlejuice, to Batman Returns, James and the Giant Peach, Corpse Bride and the Nightmare before Christmas. He manages to add a touch of the macabre to create another dimension, a different, adrker layer to whats on the surface- and i dig that! He’s married to the Queen of Kook: Helena Bonham Carter and together they’ve been fantastic in their on screen collaborations. Thats one house i’d love to be a fly on the wall in!

The cast so far is brilliant! Johnny Depp (swoon), Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Alan Rickman and ChristopherLee to name the big ones. Plus, beating out Amanda Seyfried (Big Love, MammaMia) and Lindsey Lohan (binge drinking, drug dabbling) for the coveted role of Alice is aussie born, canberran Mia Wasikowska! How cool is that!

Fishing through Google i came across these images from the film. JD looks sensational as the Mad Hatter and i bet HBC will be awesome as the Red Queen.

The movie is scheduled to premiere on the 5th of March 2010 and is still in post production so we’ll have to hang in there…

I love Mia Wasikowska in In Treatment – she is an awesome actor so I’m sure she’ll be brilliant in this! Looking forward to it!
