Not so wise any more…

After ignoring my troublesome wisdom teeth for a good 18 moths i had to succumb to a dental visit after the top right tooth kept hurting and waking me up at 3am. I knew they needed to come out and was hoping they would be wrapped around a nerve, or lying in a difficult position for extraction. I was hoping the dentist would refer me to an oral surgeon but after a clean up and xray, giving me the all clear, my dentist asked “So shall i take it out today? It needs to come out really soon”

I gulped, sucked up my cowardice and said “Yes, lets get it out”. I warned him that i was going to close my eyes- i did NOT want to see the tools he was using, nor did i want to see the blood being sucked up by the suction wand. He numbed my gum and the roof of my mouth and got to work while i clenched my eyes shut and waited for the pain to start. “Im taking out your wisdom!” he cheerfully exclaimed. Had i not had some metal instruments in my mouth, i would have told him that i was sure the remaining 3 teeth would instinctively increase their power to compensate for the loss of their fallen friend.

10mins later he proclaims he’s finished and im confused. It didnt hurt! The most painful part was the numbing injection in the roof of my mouth, and that lasted 7 seconds. I have no swelling and no brusing (so far) and despite some light bleeding all is well.

I enjoyed it SO much im going back in 2 weeks time to get the bottom tooth out and in 4 weeks i’ll have the remaining 2 pulled out in one sitting! So if i start posting some weird incoherent stuff and resort to text-speak its because my dentist stole my wisdom…
