clever…

We’ve been engrossed in True Blood this season, such dynamic characters and the boys aren’t too bad on the eye either! Not fans of Twilight at all, its so ‘high school’ compared to Ture Blood. I was once conned into watching the Twilight movie, i had no idea what it was about apart from the fact it was a ‘vampire movie’- and i love a good vamp flick. Being a Buffy fan from the beginning i was waiting for the witty writing and action and instead i got… a chick flick. Very annoyed!! I dont do chick-flicks!

Twilight fans would probably chase me through the street with flaming torches. Hehehe. Anyway, the point of this post wasn’t to trash Twilight, the real point was to show you this cool Bloody necklace:

Its pretty subtle and i like that it quietly suggests you’re a fan of the vampire genre or have a secret longing to be a blood-spatter analyst! Calling all Dexter fans?

famous cupcakes

by Nisha | July 20 2010 |

Sex and the City put Magnolia Cupcakes on the map. We watched Miranda and Carrie chomp into those beautifully iced cakes and declare them to be the best in New York. You can just imagine the crowds outside the store the next day! We were strolling through the West Village when we happend upon it. The boys are big fans of cake, especially cake with mountains of icing on top, i think they get that from their mother. So  denying them would be cruel!

ahhh Italian Vogue…

…always the front runner with stunning beauty images! I love this polished retro look, the chignon, the parted fronge and the heavy eye liner. I was also drawn to the creamy shade of the glasses frame- black would be expected and probably very true to the era. But the caramel shade just adds a pop of modernity to this image. Mental note- find some creamy shades to sport this summer…

Birthday card with a twist

by Nisha | July 15 2010 |

There are lots of amazing examples of paper cutting art online. From basic shapes to intricate lace work, i can truly appreciate the time and effort and hand cramping that goes into making such unique art. I was inspired to create something unique for my friend Liss, on her birthday.

I had seen these:

and decided to make her this topper for her gift….

Sometimes i steal a biscuit or two to go with my 3pm cup of tea and i usually grab one of the kids melamimeplates as they are small and just need a quick rinse off when im done. I saw these beautifully designed melamime plates and thought the design on them was just gorgeous- much nicer than having to look at Dora or the Wiggles!!

Stunning Stationery

by Nisha | July 13 2010 |

Beautiful stationery is a rare thing. Sure, there are plenty of newsagent style florals and kittens and *gasp* kittens in florals! But a truly beautiful design makes that special hand written note even more precious. I cant imagine ever throwing out a note or letter penned on such beautiful paper as these Jonathan Adler beauties:

I love that the envelopes have a print on them also- very clever! Do you ever hand write a note or even a letter? Is letter writing a lost art in the age of emails, twitter and instant messages?
